Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin on Saturday called on all stakeholders to work together in realizing a more advanced and prosperous Indonesia.

"Let's work together to develop our regions and create a better Indonesia," he remarked during the Commemoration of XXVII Regional Autonomy Day 2023 through a video conference.

Furthermore, the vice president asked all local governments to maintain their synergy to provide best services for the community.

"I ask governors, regents, and mayors to continue collaborating to carry out the best public services," he continued.

Amin also lauded all central and regional stakeholders who have been supervising the implementation of regional autonomy successfully.

Regional autonomy is the right, authority, and obligation of the regional governments to regulate and manage their respective regions in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

According to a statement published at the official website of the Secretariat of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, the Commemoration of XXVII Regional Autonomy Day 2023 had a theme of "Advanced Regional Autonomy, Superior Indonesia".

The theme showed the recognition of the central government for the independence of regional governments. It also highlighted the empowerment of local communities and governments to increase their competitiveness to improve the people’s welfare.

The ceremony was held at the Losari Beach square in Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province, and attended in person by Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian as well as regional heads from various provinces, cities, and districts throughout Indonesia.

Among them were Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, and Bogor Mayor Bima Arya.

A total of 25 breakthrough programs implemented by various regional governments were showcased in the Regional Governments’ Innovation Festival during the commemoration event.

As the host of the event, Makassar City Government also optimized the momentum to promote their city branding as "Delicious Culinary City" by inviting all participants to enjoy one of the city’s culinary delights, coto.

Coto is a type of soup made from boiled beef or buffalo meat, mixed with spices such as turmeric, lemongrass, galangal, ginger, and peanuts.
