The security operation during the summit, which will be held from May 9 to 11, has been codenamed the 2023 Komodo Operation.
"Each of these task forces will be controlled by the command center. The command center will control and coordinate the integration of security carried out by the National Police," Imran informed in a written statement received here on Wednesday.
The eight task forces consist of the Pre-emptive Task Force, the Preventive Task Force, the Walrolakir Task Force, the Gakum Task Force, the Action Task Force, the Anti-Terror Task Force, the Public Relations Task Force, and the Banops Task Force.
Two levels of security will be implemented during the summit, namely security for securing the side events and the main events starting from May 6 to 13, Imran said.
According to him, the Security Operations Task Force will carry out the first stage, namely pre-operation training. The purpose of the exercise will be to provide an understanding regarding the duties, functions, and roles of each element within the task force.
"The Pre-emptive Task Force will be led by the Directorate of Special Intelligence and Intelligence. Then, the Preventive Task Force will be led by the Police Directorate of Baharkam, then the Walrolakir Task Force will be led by the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights," he added.
The Action Task Force will be led by the head of Mobile Brigade Corps II; the Gakum Task Force by the director of Bareskrim Cyber Crime; the Anti-Terror Task Force will be led directly by the Anti-Terror Detachment 88 Action Directorate; the Public Relations Task Force by the head of the public information bureau of the National Police; and the Banops Task Force will be led by the head of the Technology, Information, and Communication Division of the National Police, he informed.
To secure the summit, the National Police will deploy a joint team of 2,627 personnel drawn from the National Police Headquarters, the NTT Regional Police, and the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police, Imran said.
"In the next two weeks, we will carry out security for the 2023 ASEAN Summit to ensure that the event runs safely and smoothly," he added.
