Jakarta (ANTARA) - Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono has assured that all supporting facilities and infrastructure for the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), are ready.

"They are ready, just finishing the plants," he said here on Tuesday.

All the required improvements for the facilities and infrastructure have been completed to support the ASEAN Summit, he added.

The PUPR Ministry was tasked with carrying out the improvement of infrastructure and supporting facilities in Labuan Bajo and Tana Mori for the 42nd ASEAN Summit.

According to a spokesperson for the ministry, Endra Atmawidjaja, all infrastructure to support the summit will be completely ready by May 3, 2023, well ahead of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on May 7 and the ASEAN Summit on May 9.

"We have prepared all the infrastructure that will be used, including the venues, buildings, and supporting facilities, such as the command headquarter for security personnel," he said.

The venues and infrastructure prepared for the summit include the Puncak Waringin, marinas, and access roads, he added.

"We have improved the facilities and infrastructure for the ASEAN Summit since last year, including the 25-km Tanamoro access road to Labuan Bajo," Atmawidjaja said.

The improvement of supporting facilities in the Labuan Bajo and Tana Mori areas was carried out by the ministry through the NTT Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements and the NTT Road Implementation Center (BPJN) of the Directorate General of Highways.

The improvement of facilities, which covered area construction and road corridors, was aimed at supporting the safety and comfort of participants during the summit on May 9–11.

The related agencies also improved the West Manggarai Police Station, the Labuan Bajo Marina Promenade Zone 4, the VVIP parking lot at the district office, sidewalks along the Sp Binongko-Sp Sylvia road, and the Yohanes Sehadun Road in front of Komodo Airport.

In the Tana Mori Special Economic Zone, the Labuan Bajo-Tana Mori road section was improved through slope strengthening and plant stabilization.

The road section was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo on March 14.
