Have a good fight. Insya Allah (God willing), I will attend one of the matches.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The executive board of the Indonesian Swimming Association (PB PRSI) is sending 51 athletes to compete in three sports branches — swimming, water polo, and diving — at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.

The 51 athletes comprise 24 swimming athletes, 13 men's water polo athletes, 13 women's water polo athletes, and 1 diving athlete.

Chairperson of the PB PRSI Anindya Bakrie in a statement issued on Thursday, said that the 2023 SEA Games will serve as a proving ground for the athletes to achieve better results than before.

Indonesia's medal tally at the Vietnam SEA Games comprised 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals.

"The most important aspect from the federation leadership is to provide spirit to athletes," he said.

From a technical standpoint, managers and coaches have trained the athletes physically; what they need right now is mental support, he added.

"Moreover, we appreciate the athletes and coaches for their hard work throughout this time," he said.

In addition, Bakrie thanked the athletes, trainers, and officials who contributed their time and energy to promote Indonesia on the international stage

"I thank athletes and coaches because we see that during the post-COVID-19 period, they showed extraordinary spirit," he said.

"Have a good fight. Insya Allah (God willing), I will attend one of the matches," he added.

The athletes will leave for Cambodia in several batches. The swimming sports branch will depart on May 4–5, 2023. Their competition is slated on May 6–11.

Meanwhile, the diving sports branch, represented by a single athlete, will depart on May 6 and will compete on May 8 and 10.

The men and women's water polo athletes will leave on May 10 and will compete on May 12–16.
