Women need to understand priority, time management, and focus on quality.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo has underlined three keys for achieving women's empowerment.

"Women need to understand priority, time management, and focus on quality," she said at a discussion on "Empowered Women Driving the Nation's Economy” here on Thursday.

The percentage of women holding top-level management positions is still low, she noted and urged women to take advantage of opportunities well.

She said that the ministry will fight for women's equality not only in terms of the economy, but also outlook.

"When women are prosperous, families will be prosperous; when families are prosperous, then society will be prosperous," she underlined.

Meanwhile, Secretary of the Ministry Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani cited the World Tourism Organization's data from 2021, which showed that 54 percent of workers in the tourism industry in 2019 were women.

Meanwhile, 64 percent of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) actors, who contributed US$24 billion to the economy, were women.

"For this reason, the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry has a strategic role in serving the economic and creative sectors for job creation, and participating in building the Indonesian nation," Adnyani said.

The discussion, which was themed "Women Today: Building Communication in Achieving Dreams," was held at Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Sapta Pesona Building, at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s premises.

The event was held in a hybrid online and offline format. Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, joined the discussion online.

The discussion, which was held in honor of women's emancipation activist Kartini, featured Nur Asia Uno, the spouse of Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, and the deputy for strategic policies, Nia Niscaya, as speakers.

Earlier, at a women entrepreneurs' awards night, Minister Puspayoga said that women must develop their potential to be competitive and improve their welfare.
