Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Lestari Moerdijat has said that integrated population data must be gathered without delay to expedite the development of competitive human resources.

"The government's effort to develop a more integrated population system must be realized immediately to create a better national development process," she stressed in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.

An integrated population system is expected to have a positive impact on the development process in a number of sectors. Moreover, the globalization era, which is full of changes, demands an accurate development process.

Integrated population data has strategic value as foundational information necessary for the development process in a number of fields, she said.

These include the alleviation of poverty, improvement of people’s nutrition, and development of national human resources through boosting every citizen’s participation in education, she highlighted.

In view of this, Moerdijat urged all parties to play an active role so that the integrated population data registration process can be realized immediately.

She said she expects the development process in foundational sectors, such as the improvement of the quality of national human resources, alleviation of poverty, and improvement of public nutrition, to be expedited.

"All of these are done so that the national human resources development process, which targets the improvement of every citizen's competitiveness, can be realized immediately," she added.

Moerdijat said that this year, the Home Affairs Ministry is aiming to get 50 million Indonesians registered for Digital National Identity (IKD).

The IKD will be accessible through applications from the owners' cell phones.

Moreover, the application is planned to be integrated with the National Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS), Workers Social Security Program (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan), the government social aid service, and the Smart Indonesia Card service system.

The application will also be integrated for the purpose of checking in at airports and train stations.
