Jakarta (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati met with Deputy Prime Minister and Economy and Finance Minister of the Republic of Korea, Choo Kyung-ho, in South Korea to discuss recent economic developments in the two countries.

The meeting took place on May 3, 2023.

"We agree that the two countries can work together in building stronger bilateral trade and investment activities to support the economic recovery of each country," Indrawati said in a post on her official Instagram account @smindrawati on Thursday (May 4).

During the meeting, she also sought South Korea's views on Indonesia's chairmanship of the 2023 ASEAN in the field of financial cooperation, namely the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralization (CMIM) Margin Options, new Regional Financial Arrangements/RFA financing facilities, and ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO).

The minister expressed the hope that South Korea will continue to support Indonesia till the completion of its chairmanship of ASEAN, including following up on the leadership results that must be carried out for next year.

Besides Minister Choo, Indrawati also met with the president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Masatsugu Asakawa. The two of them have often met and exchanged ideas about the economies of Indonesia and Asia.

"As one of the founding countries of ADB in 1966 as well as the sixth-largest shareholder, Indonesia and ADB are very close," she said.

At the meeting, the two discussed four major topics. They are Indonesia's contribution to the ADB, the latest information on the capital adequacy framework (CAF), the energy transition mechanism, and ADB's support for the ASEAN Infrastructure Fund Recapitalization during Indonesia's chairmanship of the grouping.

The minister deemed the meeting very productive and said she hoped that the relationship between Indonesia and ADB would continue to be strong and mutually reinforcing.
