Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia recorded nearly 60 thousand potential transactions at the 2023 Arabian Travel Mart (ATM) in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, exceeding its initial target, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has informed.

In a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, Uno said that the government collaborated with 41 business actors from the tourism industry for the 30th edition of the event, which was held from May 1–4, 2023.

An initial survey of industry actors found that Indonesia recorded a potential transaction of 55 thousand pax of high-valued tourists.

"It turned out that the result exceeded the target. We have managed to generate a potential pax of 58,958 in total, with potential foreign exchange of Rp1.36 trillion," he informed.

The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry's participation this year marks Indonesia's 20th involvement in the international event.

This year, the ministry promoted the theme of "Visit Indonesia 2023: Explore Our New Wonderful Destinations" in the hope of achieving the 2023 target of 8.5 million international tourist visits.

Indonesia made the most of the international event by promoting the five super-priority tourism destinations (DPSP) and inaugurating the Wonderful Indonesia Corner at Wafi City Mall in Dubai on May 1.

The inauguration was a follow-up to the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by the ministry and VFS Global earlier on March 29 this year.

VFS is a commercial company that works in cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland to provide supporting services to people submitting requests for visas to enter the European country.

On the second day of the event, the ministry also inked an MoU with Emirates Airlines in the hope of exploring potential future cooperation on promoting Indonesian tourism with the help of the airlines' networks.
