Almost all of PLN's infrastructures from upstream to downstream, especially those supporting the ASEAN Summit, require security measures from the police.
Labuan Bajo (ANTARA) - State-run electricity company PT PLN is working in synergy with the National Police’s (Polri’s) Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) to secure electricity infrastructures for the 42nd ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara.

"Almost all of PLN's infrastructures from upstream to downstream, especially those supporting the ASEAN Summit, require security measures from the police," PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo said in an official statement received in Labuan Bajo on Wednesday.

The 42nd ASEAN Summit is an opportunity for Indonesia to showcase itself to the world, he added. With that in mind, it is necessary to ensure that all parties, including PLN and Polri, are working in synergy to support the event, he continued.

He said that the collaboration between PLN and Polri is not limited to the events of the summit.

The synergy between both parties has involved maintaining national vital electricity objects by working together to secure the processes of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution, Prasodjo informed.

Moreover, security has also been provided at the electricity data center.

"Through transformation, we continue to perform thorough digitalization efforts on every business line, including cybersecurity for the electricity data center," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday (May 9, 2023), the electricity company had received a visit from Baharkam head, Commissioner General Mohammad Fadil Imran, at the PLN Command Center in Labuan Bajo.

During his visit, Imran stressed that the police would continue to support PLN in efforts to secure its physical and cyber infrastructures.

According to him, the security of the two kinds of infrastructures is of essence to ensure the smooth running of the ASEAN Summit without any electricity-related problems.

"Electricity is one of the vital and strategic elements for the success of the international event. We must work together to ensure its security," he said.
