Without disputes, the certainty of land rights security can be ensured in tandem with efforts to develop the economyJakarta (ANTARA) - Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto declared Yogyakarta a "complete city" during a visit on Thursday.
"This declaration is the outcome of a good level of synergy between the ATR/BPN Ministry and the regional government in pushing the realization of the target that has been set for land registration," the minister said in a written statement released here.
A city/district is considered “complete” once it has managed to completely map its land, with valid spatial and juridical documents, evidenced by the accuracy in physical and digital formats of the submitted land book data and measurement documents.
According to Tjahjanto, Yogyakarta City has validated a total of 88,508 land books (99.28 percent) with as many as 108,453 (82,19 percent) valid measurement documents. This feat, he said, is a reflection of Indonesia's commitment to registering all of its lands.
On the occasion, the minister also expressed the hope that other districts within the Special Autonomous Province of Yogyakarta, namely Bantul, Gunung Kidul, Kulon Progo, and Sleman, would follow in the city's footsteps by completing land registrations.
Tjahjanto emphasized that a complete city provides benefits to the people, saying: "A complete city provides legal certainty for land rights as well as certainty for the people's economic rights."
A complete city, he said, would also help minimize the potential for disputes and conflicts over land so that land ownership can be managed and arranged in a safer and more secure manner.
"Without disputes, the certainty of land rights security can be ensured in tandem with efforts to develop the economy," he said.
On the same occasion, the minister also distributed a total of 179 certificates for the allotment of state property, regional property, property of state-run electricity company PT PLN, and also Sultanate land.
The ATR/BPN Ministry's declaration of Yogyakarta as a complete city succeeded similar declarations for five other cities, namely Denpasar, Bontang, Madiun, Tegal, and Surakarta.
