"Through this collaboration, both Indonesia and the US can have wider capabilities in helping other countries in need," Indrawati said here on Friday.
The donor agencies she referred to are the Indonesian Agency for International Development and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Besides discussing the cooperation potential between donor agencies, Indrawati and Yellen also talked about several important topics that are relevant to the current situation, especially related to the global economy and the issue of minerals.
They also talked about the progress achieved in relation to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the Pandemic Fund, and the G20 Joint Finance and Health Task Force (JFHTF).
According to Indrawati, the talks were very constructive and collaborative. At the end of the discussion, the two agreed that cooperation between the two countries is a must to face future challenges.
Indrawati's meeting with Yellen took place in Niigata city, Japan, on Thursday (May 11, 2023). The meeting was held before Indrawati attended the G7 Dialogue with Partners on Friday.
The G7 is an international forum of seven economically influential countries, namely the United States, Germany, Italy, Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, and France.
Indrawati was invited to the forum to convey her views as a minister of a developing country regarding the post-pandemic macroeconomic situation in facing global challenges, multilateral cooperation, and crises in some developing countries.
On April 13, at the International Monetary Fund HQ in Washington D.C., Indrawati and Yellen signed the Indonesia Infrastructure and Finance Compact Agreement worth Rp10.2 trillion (US$698 million).
The agreement is a five-year grant between the US government's Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Indonesian government.
The Indonesia Infrastructure and Finance Compact aims to increase financial access for Indonesia's transportation and logistics infrastructure, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially those run by women.
