"God willing, we are committed to supporting the Corruption Eradication Commission, so that our anticorruption index can go up and become a subject of pride for Indonesians, and the world sees it, that anticorruption index in Indonesia keeps improving," Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Hadi Tjahjanto said at the KPK's Red and White Building here on Tuesday.
The minister made the statement after attending an executive briefing for state officials hosted by the KPK.
He was accompanied by his wife, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Raja Juli Antoni as well as high-ranking ministry staff.
He said that the ministry was thankful for the anticorruption briefings provided to officials.
According to Tjahjanto, his staff learned about anticorruption values from the commission's leadership, which would be important to ward off the seeds of corruption.
"This serves as an input and (example), so all of us, particularly in the ministry, have the commitment to prevent bad behaviors," he said.
He also urged the director generals of the ministry to remind their staff to avoid corruption.
The digitalization that is currently being pursued by the ministry would not function well if human resources, who support it, do not have nor uphold anticorruption values, Tjahjanto said.
Meanwhile, the deputy for public education and contribution at the KPK, Wawan Wardiana, said that the executive briefing was a part of the commission’s “Anticorruption for State Officials with Integrity” program.
The program is part of the commission's effort to educate state officials and their spouses about anticorruption values in order to develop better integrity, he explained.
"Because we know that some cases which the commission handle turn out to involve the spouses of some state officials," Wardiana pointed out.
