One of the House commissions' functions is supervisory, which is overseeing several issues that are of public concern, including the rise in cases of violence committed by minors.
"Then, violence cases against Indonesian migrant workers," Maharani stated during the House's plenary meeting to open the Session V of the 2022-2023 Session Year at the Nusantara II Building, Senayan Parliament Complex.
She said the commissions will also oversee legal protection for health workers, the process of promoting teachers to contract-based government employees (PPPK), and the Hajj preparations this year.
The House lauded the government's efforts in controlling and handling inflation, food prices, and availability during the Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr period.
Despite the prices of commodities still increasing, Maharani said they were within the limits of control, and the public can afford them.
The House is also paying attention to extremely hot weather experienced in various parts of the world, including in Indonesia.
The speaker said her side, along with the government, will take anticipatory measures to minimize the impact of extreme weather.
She said extreme weather conditions can decrease air quality, cause drought, trigger forest fires, damage infrastructure, and have an adverse impact on public health.
Moreover, the House drew attention to the violence committed by armed separatist terrorist groups in Papua.
"The government must be able to find solutions and appropriate strategies to tackle unsafe situations and actions that threaten civilians and even cause casualties, both involving military soldiers and civilians," Maharani remarked.
Currently, the House has 11 Commissions for the 2019-2024 period.
