The efforts to improve fashion products' added value would serve as an innovative and creative way for business players to become more competitive in the digital era, Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said.
"Fashion industry players must be really creative in order to compete, considering competition in this field is so tight, whether in local or international markets. Added value must also be included in promotion and marketing," the minister said in a statement received here on Wednesday.
During a working visit to the island on Tuesday (May 16, 2023), he said that the government has consistently worked to improve the enterprises' capability in terms of promotion and marketing through training.
"After training and coaching, there must be continuity of programs, particularly to support marketing and funding. This is what we must collaborate with the government, and even industry," he added.
He highlighted the importance of great branding for fashion-oriented businesses as well as obtaining intellectual rights.
The minister said that Denpasar has been designated as a Creative City, and it is expected that it would be improved so that it can be included in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
He further said that his administration will pursue efforts to make the initiative more comprehensive, which would prompt creative economy players to proactively develop their region.
This is because the creative economy could generate more jobs —by up to sixfold compared to other sectors, he pointed out.
Denpasar city has rich cultural and natural wealth coupled with vast ecosystems and a great fashion sub-sector, he added.
