The Ministry of Communication and Information will respect and adhere to all ongoing legal processes.Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Information has affirmed that it will continue carrying out its duties normally and provide public services according to its function in spite of the legal cases against Minister Johnny G. Plate.
The ministry also said that it will respect the ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in the ministry's base transceiver station (BTS) projects, in which Plate is suspected to be involved.
"The Ministry of Communication and Information will respect and adhere to all ongoing legal processes," the ministry said in a press statement on Wednesday.
The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has named Plate as the sixth suspect in a corruption case related to the procurement of 4G BTS infrastructures and supporting infrastructures under packages 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 by the ministry's Telecommunications and Informatics Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) during the period from 2020 to 2022.
Before being named a suspect by AGO's Deputy Attorney General on Special Criminal Affairs, Plate underwent his third round of questioning as a witness on Wednesday morning.
He was questioned twice before by the AGO on February 14 and March 15, 2023.
In response to Plate's legal cases, the Minister of State Secretariat's special staff, Faldo Maldini, assured that the case would not compromise the government's functioning.
"The government runs by the system; everything is regulated, and we want everything to run well. Residents need not be concerned by the government's effectiveness," Maldini said, according to a statement released here on Wednesday.
He added that an acting official would be appointed soon in place of Plate.
"Just wait for the official statement soon. Surely, it will be prioritized," Maldini said.
