Bandung, West Java (ANTARA) - State-owned pharmaceutical company PT Bio Farma has said that it expects ambassador and consul-general candidates to help strengthen its presence on the global stage.

Ambassadors and consul-generals have an important role in strengthening the expansion of Bio Farma's market, Business Research and Development Director at the Company Yuliana Indriati said in a statement released on Friday.

"The pharmaceutical SOEs Holding seeks to be more active in the global market in the future with various new products and innovations, certainly with support from Indonesian representatives overseas," she added.

PT Bio Farma received a visit from six Indonesian ambassador candidates and seven consul-general candidates. Indriati thanked the diplomats for their visit to her office.

Bio Farma has been exporting products meeting the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) standards for more than 25 years, she said.

This is certainly a pride-worthy achievement and is part of Bio Farma's commitment to strengthening global resilience and health in the future, which will necessitate cooperation and collaboration.

According to Foreign Affairs Ministry official Muhsin Syihab, during Indonesia's G20 presidency, one of the nation’s priority pillars was global health architecture, specifically expediting global health recovery post COVID-19.

In view of this, Indonesians should be proud of having Bio Farma since many countries do not have world-class vaccine research, development, distribution, and production companies.

"Bio Farma is expected to become a hub in Asia and the Asia-Pacific, even becoming the pride of Asia," Syihab remarked.

The collaboration between Bio Farma and the Foreign Affairs Ministry is currently very important because a number of cooperations that will be forged in the future will require strategy.

"With this, the hub is expected to be able to be implemented and strengthen the existence of Bio Farma in the global health ecosystem with various challenges in the future," he said.
