Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani affirmed that the direction of tax policy in 2024 will be optimized through the core tax system.

"The policy direction for optimizing taxation in 2024 is carried out by maintaining effectiveness of the implementation of tax reform through the implementation of the core tax system," Sri Mulyani stated during the House of Representatives' (DPR's) Plenary Meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday.

She made the statement to respond to the views of factions at the House of Representatives (DPR) on the Macroeconomic Policy and Fiscal Principles Policy (KEM PPKF) of the 2024 State Budget Plan in relation to the importance of encouraging the optimization of state revenues while maintaining sustainability of the business world and people's purchasing power.

The minister explained that the core tax system is the driver for changes in various aspects of taxation.

The government will maintain the tax system to be fairer, healthier, and more sustainable as well as in favor of the community and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The minister affirmed that implementation of the core tax system will also be accompanied by strengthening the administration side to optimize the 2024 tax policy direction.

The intended administrative strengthening encompasses bolstering business processes, regulations, human resources, and the use of information technology.

The government has also consistently continued efforts to expand the tax base as a follow-up after the implementation of the Voluntary Disclosure Program (PPS) and implementation of the Citizen Identity Number (NIK) as the NPWP.

Furthermore, the government will continue to provide tax incentives to accelerate economic transformation while increasing investment attractiveness.

The government will also encourage Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP). Efforts to increase PNBP will continue to be pursued through improving regulations, improving natural resources' management, optimizing state asset management, and conducting service innovation while maintaining the quality of public services.

The state treasurer explained that efforts to optimize the direction of the 2024 tax policy are one of the government's efforts to accelerate economic transformation through the holistic strengthening of fiscal reforms.
