Banjarnegara, Central Java (ANTARA) - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has highlighted the important role of village chiefs in supporting the achievement of national targets, especially in reducing the rates of extreme poverty and stunting.

"There are targets to reduce the stunting rate and extreme poverty. We must accelerate them as my term will end on September 5, 2023," he said after attending the Banjarnegara great forum of village heads and apparatus here on Tuesday.

He asked village officials to run the village administration accountably and free from any form of corruption.

He said that he received many inputs from village chiefs regarding village infrastructure, especially related to village budgets.

"We tried to coordinate so that this shortage of budget can be included in the Presidential Instruction (Inpres) program related to village infrastructure," he informed.

According to him, village officials must manage the budget properly as the Supreme Audit Board (BPK) has given notes on account of delays.

"I ask the (budget management) to be sped up, and Alhamdulillah (thank God), the Banjarnegara district head said that it is 100 percent completed here. Now, we have to remind other regions," he said.

Pranowo also expressed his gratefulness, saying that, in his two terms leading Central Java, many villages produced innovations, not only in terms of governance, but also in businesses such as through village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) and inter-village cooperation.

Many villages created mobile applications to support public services, he added.

"We have to oversee these good experiences. We honor the village chiefs' seriousness in solving problems at the village level," he said.

The national targets of reducing poverty and stunting can be achieved at the smallest level of government, namely the village, he added, and urged village chiefs not to get involved in corruption.
