It is expected that our micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can compete domestically and access foreign markets
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs has expressed the belief that local Indonesian products can compete not only in the domestic market, but also in the international market.

"It is expected that our micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) can compete domestically and access foreign markets," the ministry's acting Deputy for Macroeconomic and Financial Coordination, Ferry Irawan, said here on Thursday.

At the "Indonesia Maju Expo and Forum 2023" at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) on Thursday, he highlighted the need for synergy among stakeholders in helping MSMEs access markets abroad.

One of the synergies carried out has been the expo and forum, which has not only involved the Directorate General of Politics and General Governance of the Home Affairs Ministry, but also regional governments and state-owned enterprises (SOEs).

Several MSME actors and regional-owned enterprises (BUMDs) have also participated in the event.

Irawan said that his party is ready to help local entrepreneurs who wish to increase the sales of their products abroad. MSME actors can get capital assistance from the ministry through the smallholder business credit (KUR) program, he added.

He said that the ministry has prepared funding of Rp450 trillion (US$30 billion) to provide loans at cheaper interest to local businesses.

"Commercial interest is around 19 to 20 percent, while it is around 6 percent in KUR," he added.

On the same occasion, Director of Economic, Social, and Cultural Resilience at the Home Affairs Ministry, Aang Witarsa Rofik, said the expo is being held from June 1–4, 2023, at TMII, with the aim of promoting local potential and flagship products.

The event was opened by officials, including the Director General of Politics and General Governance, Bahtiar, and acting deputy Irawan. The opening was marked by the beating of gendang, traditional drums.
