“Entering the long weekend holiday, AP II airports have served more passengers since Wednesday (May 31). AP II, together with all stakeholders, will ensure the readiness of services and facilities to serve travel on this long weekend,” AP II President Director, Muhammad Awaluddin, said.
According to him, on Wednesday, or the day before the start of the long weekend, an increase was recorded in flight traffic at airports under the management of AP II.
“The flight time slots are guaranteed at AP II airports so that people’s travel is not disturbed,” he said.
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, which is the largest and busiest airport in Indonesia, on Tuesday (May 30) recorded 120,854 passengers.
On Wednesday (May 31), there was an increase of 26.53 percent, or 152,905, in the number of passengers at the airport.
Meanwhile, based on flight plan information received by AP II from airlines, the number of passengers at Soekarno-Hatta Airport was estimated to increase again on Thursday to 181,505.
“Airlines have opened routes and increased flight frequency at AP II airports to accommodate demand, including during the long holiday from June 1 to 4, 2023,” he said.
The Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Dwi Ananda Wicaksana, said that AirAsia Indonesia opened an international route between Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on May 31.
“This international route strengthens the connectivity of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in the ASEAN region to support the growth of Indonesian tourism,” Wicaksana added.
AP II and the airlines are exploring opportunities to open more domestic and international routes, such as via Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, to encourage tourism growth in Indonesia.
