Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has promised prime facilities for investors in the development of the new capital Nusantara, primarily for investments in the green economy and industry sector.

"We have done everything, primarily on green energy and industry. We will facilitate it as best as possible because we believe that economic success and sustainability are collective works," he stated, as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel.

In the President’s remarks while attending the 2023 Ecosperity Week in Singapore on Wednesday, the president said that commitment to developing a green economy is behind the decision to make botanical facilities the first structure developed in the new capital.

"That is why the first facility we develop (in Nusantara City) is botanical centres: A nursery of 16-million seed capacity per year in Rumpin and a 15-million seed capacity per year nursery in Mentawir," Jokowi added.

He also asked investors not to be concerned about incentives the Indonesian government will provide in return for investment in the new capital.

"(Incentives) is an easy matter. I was once active in business, so do not worry, we are ready with incentives," the president stressed.

The Indonesian Government, he said, has prepared various fiscal incentives for the new capital development, such as tax holidays, non-collected value-added tax, and a super deduction tax.

Meanwhile, Jokowi highlighted Indonesia's commitment to developing energy transition, particularly as Indonesia's renewable energy potential reached 434 gigawatts from various sources, such as geothermal, wind, solar, biofuel, and water.

He added that Indonesia has 4,400 rivers, of which 128 are large rivers, with the potential to be the energy sources for hydroelectric power plants.

"For instance, Kayan River in Kalimantan. It has been a green energy source for green industry zones in north Kalimantan," the president pointed out.

With the green energy source in Kalimantan, the government would prioritise downstreaming industry development, including solar panel, electric vehicle, and EV battery industries, he said.
