We expect that the growth of the manufacturing industry can be higher than the growth of the economy…Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Development Planning Minister Suharso Monoarfa is aiming to bring the contribution of Indonesia’s manufacturing industry to the national gross domestic product (GDP) to 30 percent by 2045.
"We expect that the growth of the manufacturing industry can be higher than the growth of the economy, thus its contribution to the GDP can reach 30 percent," he said.
During the "Golden Indonesia 2045 National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN)" unveiling here on Thursday, he expressed the belief that one of the strategies necessary to realize the Golden Indonesia vision is industrialization.
Through effective and sustainable industrialization, the government is expected to revive and encourage the growth of the Indonesian economy based on the previously established target.
To make this more effective, the government will focus on certain industries such as the natural resources industry and basic industries, which encompass basic chemistry and metal industries.

They also include middle-high technology industries, which include shipping, aerospace, automotive, and defense; sustainable consumption goods industries, which comprise food and beverage, textile, and footwear industries; as well as innovation and research-based industries, including biotechnology.
According to Monoarfa, given Indonesia’s demographic bonus, future younger generations should become golden generations with mastery over local and international languages and even coding.
Mastery of languages is necessary to keep up with the advancement of technology and economy that have continued to transform.
"Therefore, it becomes a communication tool in confronting the rapid development of technology while serving as an example of a transformative step," he noted.
The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), which Monoarfa leads, and the government are drafting the 2025–2045 RPJPN Law, which is expected to be ratified in September 2023.
The minister said he expects the law to serve as a guideline for presidential and vice presidential candidates in creating their vision and mission for the 2024 General Election.
