Jakarta (ANTARA) - Constitutional Court (MK) Deputy Chief Justice Saldi Isra has said that MK justices have agreed to take action against former deputy minister of law and human rights, Denny Indrayana, who "leaked" the court's election system ruling.

"The justices have decided a collective action, and we, the Constitutional Court, to put a lesson for all of us, will report Denny Indrayana to the bar association where he belongs," Isra informed at a press conference here on Thursday.

On May 28, 2023, Indrayana, through his Twitter account, claimed that the Constitutional Court would rule in favor of a judicial review of the open-list proportional representation system filed last November, which would result in a return to the closed-list system.

In his tweet, the former deputy minister said he received the information from "a person with trusted credibility" but clarified that the person was not among the nine MK judges.

However, the court, earlier on Thursday, rejected the judicial review in its entirety, retaining the system for the upcoming legislative election and disproving Indrayana's claim.

Isra said that he wanted the bar association to judge whether Indrayana's action constitutes an ethics violation or not.

The court is also exploring ways to notify the former deputy minister regarding the action against him, considering that Indrayana is now in Australia, he added.

"We are still considering how to notify (Indrayana) about this, but we will allow the bar association to determine their stance," he said.

Meanwhile, Isra affirmed that the Constitutional Court will not file a report against Indrayana with the police.

"The Constitutional Court decided not to go that far," the top court justice said.

The court has acknowledged that a police report has been filed against Indrayana, he said, adding that his side is ready to assist the police whenever needed, including in providing testimony.

"Whenever we are needed, we will be cooperative," Isra stressed.

He also urged the police to investigate the case objectively and impartially.
