Head of the Jakarta Transportation Office Syafrin Liputo said here Saturday that his office is conducting traffic management at several points to reduce congestion.
“We are doing route closures in several locations, applying one-way at several points, and doing geometric planning for intersections and traffic signs," he added.
The office has also installed artificial intelligence (AI) technology at a number of intersections to tackle congestion.
"Recently, we have implemented an intelligent transportation system for regulating traffic at intersections to reduce congestion," he said.
Applied in cooperation with Google Inc, the technology conducts supervision and traffic light time management based on information on Google's internal database, Liputo informed.
The technology can measure and calculate traffic conditions and timings at intersections.
Furthermore, he said that the Jakarta provincial government will hold a forum group discussion (FGD) on the separation of working hours for employees.
"The agreements and understandings from the FGD will be realized and implemented," he added.
Earlier, deputy head of the Jakarta Transportation Office, Syaripudin, said he expected the discussion on working hour regulations in the city to be completed this month.
"We hope that it will be completed this June," he said during a meeting with the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) on Wednesday (June 14, 2023).
The draft regulation on working hours is still being discussed with various parties, which include associations of employers and shopping center managements, he added.
