Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) collaborated with Think Policy to hold the 2023 Policy Fest at Jakarta City Hall on Saturday.

"The issues raised at Policy Fest 2023 are climate crisis, digital economy, and social inclusion," the province's economic and financial assistant, Sri Haryati, said.

According to her, the 2023 Policy Fest was a part of activities leading up to Jakarta's 496th anniversary.

She expected the festival to open opportunities for collaboration with external parties for creating a positive environment in Jakarta.

The issues raised at the festival are considered vital in providing solutions to urban issues.

During the discussion, the participating community groups and stakeholders were invited to apply cross-generational thinking to discover solutions to current and future urban problems.

The stakeholders ranged from policymakers from the Jakarta provincial government, civil society organizations, academicians, researchers, industry players, and young professionals representing society groups.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta provincial government has carried out a number of initiatives to overcome urban problems, ranging from emission control to tackling the ongoing climate crisis through legal measures.

The policies include the imposition of a coefficient penalty in the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and parking disincentives.

To promote the digital economy, the provincial government introduced "Jakarta Open Data" in 2020, which opened data from regional offices or agencies under the Jakarta administration.

"The public can use it positively to find out the opportunities, risks, and developments, especially in the digital economy," Haryati said.

Furthermore, the provincial government is also providing the Jakarta Smart Card for education and building disability-friendly parks for supporting social inclusion.

"Programs like Policy Fest 2023 are very useful, not only for policymakers, but also for the community as a communication forum with the government," Haryati said.
