Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Ministry of Manpower has in place four programs to optimize the potential of the young workforce so as to enable the nation to compete globally.

Indonesia is experiencing a condition wherein youngsters constitute some 25 percent of its workforce, Ministry's Secretary General, Anwar Sanusi, noted through a statement issued on Sunday.

"Therefore, we have to make this young workforce a priority," he emphasized.

Sanusi highlighted that the four programs for the young workforce comprised talent scouting, talent fest, talent corner, and talent class.

According to the secretary general, talent scouting is a program to map, assist, and guide young talents to produce young innovators. This program is undertaken by the work market center.

"We have counselors to find and identify potential that the young workforce has," he explained.

The second program is talent fest that is a forum where young talents and startup companies can meet industries and venture capital.

Meanwhile, the third program is talent corner that involves improving regional young talents' competencies to welcome future jobs as part of the talent hub in Vocational and Productivity Training Centers' (BBPVPs') Central Technical Acting Unit (UPTP) in regions.

"This is a place for productive discussions among youngsters, and we provide them in work training centers," he noted.

"Within the ministry, there is a space known as talent corner. It is a comfortable place with good internet network, and we also frequently invite partners for discussion," he affirmed.

There is also the talent class program specifically for young talents to guide them in planning their career and honing their soft and hard skills based on the demand of the professional working world, Sanusi stated.
