"We open access directly to the source, the KPU leaders. This is our commitment," said Reni Rinjani, head of the KPU's public relations and public information division, here on Monday.
She said that KPU leaders also often invite journalists to allow them to question or confirm anything.
After attending the kick-off event of the "2024 Elections Coverage Workshop", Rinjani stated that the openness of KPU leaders in providing information will ensure the accuracy of news reporting on the 2024 elections.
The division head also invited residents to access the KPU website at kpu.go.id or monitor KPU's official social media channels to obtain correct and factual information about the elections.
"The KPU's official website or all KPU media social channels will provide only correct information. If you seek the correct information, access them," she stressed.
Earlier, Press Council chairperson Ninik Rahayu stated that her side is striving to build collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure news reporting regarding the 2024 General Elections remains balanced, accurate, and consistent with journalistic ethics.
She informed that the elections coverage workshop is expected to educate participants so that news reports concerning the elections do not cause confusion or stir the public.
Rahayu also reminded all members of the press to carry out the role of the press as an instrument of democracy by prioritizing the interests of the people while covering next year's elections.
Meanwhile, Press Council commissioner Totok Suryanto said that the workshop, attended by 11 Press Council constituencies, will take place at more than 20 locations nationwide.
