"The Golden Indonesia 2045 vision will only be realized after this country goes through several governmental periods," the speaker noted in a written statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
Soesatyo remarked that the country is pursuing five targets to realize the vision, including becoming a country with per capita income equivalent to that of developed countries and alleviating the poverty rate to reach zero percent while narrowing gaps.
In addition, Indonesia is keen to boost its leadership and influence on the global stage, enhance the competitiveness of its human resources, and lower the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions towards achieving net-zero emission.
Soesatyo made the remarks during the Public Lecture and Dissemination on MPR's Four Pillars at Sebelas Maret University (UNS) in Solo, Central Java, on Friday.
In order to achieve the targets, the MPR speaker emphasized the need for Indonesia to be aware of its current position. In 2023, Indonesia's per capita income is projected to reach US$5,083, a slight increase as compared to only US$4,784 in the previous year.
However, he acknowledged that this year's projected figure is still far behind developed countries, such as Singapore, whose per capita income reaches US$72,794.
According to the World Bank standard, a country must have a minimum income of US$11,906 to become a developed nation. The National Development Planning Ministry/National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) is targeting Indonesia's per capita income to reach US$30,300 by 2045.
During the lecture, Soesatyo lauded UNS' success in becoming a campus that is firmly committed to upholding the values of Pancasila, or Five Principles, as evidenced in the establishment of six places of worship of different religions within the university and the provision of Pancasila-related majors and subjects.
