Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said he sets a target of increasing the proportion of entrepreneurs in the population to five percent in order to maximize the demographic bonus.

"We want to become a developed country, but our entrepreneurs (as a proportion of the population) are only three percent. We have to raise them to five percent," he said during the Indonesia Net-Zero Summit (INZS) 2023 here on Saturday.

The government and the people must not ignore the crucial momentum provided by the demographic bonus, the minister stressed.

Human resources in Indonesia in the future must be healthy, educated, and create innovations to support the Golden Indonesia Vision 2060, he said.

In addition to human resources, the sustainability sector has also become an important aspect.

Indonesia is a maritime and agrarian country, hence, the government and the people must properly manage the blue and green economy, he said.

"Indonesia has already committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060, and within the next 10 years, we will develop green energy," he added.

As a follow-up to that target, an energy transition funding agreement called the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) was reached during the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022.

JETP has formed a working team secretariat that is ready to realize energy transition funding cooperation with the help of a US$20 billion fund.

Meanwhile, from the implementation standpoint, the minister highlighted the development of hydropower that is currently in progress.

He expressed his optimism about achieving the established target given that Indonesia's economy grew 5.3 percent in 2022. The figure reflects fairly good economic growth compared to other G20 countries.

The INZS is an annual climate conference held by the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI).

It serves as a meeting space for ministers, officials, diplomats, youngsters, civil societies, musicians, celebrities, and various other groups for discussing climate issues, specifically in Indonesia.
