Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Mineral and Coal Information System (SIMBARA) is the first inter-ministerial system to comprehensively integrate business processes, systems, and data of minerals and coal, according to Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara.

The system was developed by the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of Budget to integrate aspects related to the management of minerals and coal from upstream to downstream.

SIMBARA serves as a platform that facilitates the activities of minerals and coal business actors, Nazara said.

"All they have to do is simply submit data through a single data entry system," he said during the 2023 Public Service Innovation Competition event as quoted in a statement on Wednesday.

He added that business actors had previously to go through several registration processes and input mechanisms on different applications due to the lack of an integrated system.

Currently, SIMBARA exists to provide ease to business actors by integrating the management of coal and minerals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Finance Ministry, Trade Ministry, Transportation Ministry, and Bank Indonesia.

As a result, business players can now input their data into a single integrated system, eliminating the need to provide physical documents.

"Furthermore, the application serves as a single source of truth, providing ease to bureaucrats in conducting supervision," he noted.

Nazara further elaborated that SIMBARA will also facilitate efforts to trace Indonesia's five pillars of natural resource management --documents, goods, money, transportation services, and entities and people-- in real time.

Moreover, the application has a high adaptability rate in other sectors and has served as a prototype for integrating systems in the forestry and fishery sectors.

Additionally, SIMBARA can be replicated by other ministries and agencies to integrate the management of commodities or other public services, especially those involving more than one ministry and agency.
