Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin conveyed Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslims and urged them to celebrate the day in simplicity and with solemn feelings of gratitude.

"I convey my Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri to all Muslims wherever you are," Amin said, as observed in a video broadcast here on Wednesday.

"Let us celebrate Eid al-Adha in simplicity and full of solemn feelings of gratitude with the spirit to help each other," he stressed.

He said that Eid al-Adha teaches Muslims to uphold humanity by sharing happiness with those who are in need.

"The noble values of Eid al-Adha remain relevant across the ages and should continue to be nurtured in our daily lives," Amin added.

The example of Prophet Ibrahim in relation to Eid al-Adha contains a noble message about unblemished faith and piety to the Almighty God, he continued.

The vice president said that Prophet Ibrahim's example, his piety, and the sincerity of his sacrifice to Allah SWT should inspire Muslims to become better people and wholeheartedly follow God's command for their own good as well as that of the community and the nation.

Amin is expected to join the Eid al-Adha prayer procession at Jakarta's Istiqlal Mosque on Thursday (June 29, 2023) morning. He will also offer an animal sacrifice at the mosque.

Earlier, vice presidential spokesperson Masduki Baidlowi confirmed that a 1,154-kilogram sacrificial cow offered by the Vice President had been received by head of the mosque's social and community development department, Asep Saepudin, on Tuesday (June 27).

He added that Amin will symbolically hand over the sacrificial cow to the mosque after the prayer.

Baidlowi said that Amin also offered 56 cows, weighing 800 kg on average, and ten goats to several Qurban (animal sacrifice) ritual organizers in the Greater Jakarta area.

All sacrificial animals offered by Amin have been deemed healthy by the Agriculture Ministry's Agriculture Quarantine and Animal Health Agency, the spokesperson added.
