Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Agency of Domestic Policy Strategy (BSKDN) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has organized sacrificial animal slaughter rituals (qurban) in three border areas that Indonesia shares with several neighboring countries.

One animal slaughter ceremony was held at the Wini Integrated Cross-Border Post (PLBN), East Nusa Tenggara, on Thursday, BSKDN head Yusharto Huntoyungo informed in an official statement on Friday.

Similar ceremonies will also be held in two other border areas, namely Serasan, Riau Islands, and Motaain, Belu district, East Nusa Tenggara, soon.

"The number of sacrificial animals for each border area is one cow each," he added.

Huntoyungo, also heading the 1444 H Eid al-Adha organizing committee for Kemendagri and the National Border Management Agency's (BNPP's) environs, expressed his gratitude to committee officials who assisted in the implementation of qurban at Kemendagri and BNPP.

This year, the qurban implementation has been themed "Qurban to Strengthen Ber-AKHLAK Core Values for Kemendagri and BNPP's ASNs."

He also thanked all parties who entrusted the sacrificial animals to the 1444 H Eid al-Adha organizing committee for Kemendagri and BNPP's environs.

"We thank all of you, ladies and gentlemen, who have entrusted and recorded their sacrificial animals through the 2023 acting committee," he said.

Huntoyungo informed that there were 332 sacrificial animals, comprising 120 cows and 212 goats, in Kemendagri and BNPP's charge.

Of them, 104 cows were handed over by the Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian.

In addition to the three border areas, sacrificial animals were also slaughtered at the Kemendagri An-Nur Mosque in Jakarta and several locations belonging to religious organizations.
