Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises has urged financial technology firms to improve the efficiency of small and medium businesses through digitization and funding, helping them become more adaptive and sustainable.

"One of the areas of focus is digitization and funding for MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises)," said Rulli Nuryanto, acting deputy of MSMEs at the ministry, during the "Grand Launch of Juragan Doku" event in Jakarta on Monday.

He said that in the Industry 4.0 era, digitization was emphasized in every aspect, while Industry 5.0 promotes the integration of technology and human skills to create efficient production systems that are flexible and sustainable.

The aim is to improve welfare and optimize limited resources, he explained.

Nuryanto stated that the majority of the Indonesian population, which consists of youth, has the opportunity to embrace Industry 5.0.

He highlighted the significant potential of the national digital economy, with 41 percent of the total economic transactions in ASEAN taking place in Indonesia.

Furthermore, he noted the high enthusiasm among MSME players to adopt eco-friendly business practices, with a rate of 94-95 percent.

"Digitization can certainly enhance the efficiency and productivity of MSMEs, particularly in expanding marketing, facilitating financial transactions, and recording financial transactions," he pointed out.

Nuryanto disclosed that the government is consistently expanding market access, particularly through comprehensive MSME digitization, and ensuring that 40 percent of government, private sector, and state-owned enterprise purchases are domestic MSME products, as per the formulated policy.

He informed that as of June 2023, at least 21 million MSMEs have participated in the digital market out of the targeted 30 million MSMEs for 2024. Additionally, out of the targeted 5 million MSME products, 2.9 million products have been listed in the e-catalogue.

He also highlighted that state-owned companies have spent Rp22 trillion (approximately US$1.5 billion) on purchasing MSME products through the PaDi (Pasar Digital or digital market) website, covering products from 17,200 MSMEs.
