In a statement received on Wednesday, she said that the development of the tourism sector is necessary because it can have a significant impact that can be felt directly by the community.
"The tourism sector is essential because the multiplier effect is extraordinary and can be felt by the community directly," she said at the "Human Resource Capacity Development Technical Training for East Java’s Village Heads 1st and 2nd Batches" held here on Tuesday.
She explained that the development of tourist attractions in villages can support players engaged in micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including those in the culinary sector.
Giving an example, she said that tourism villages in Batu City can be optimized to increase income. The potential of farm and agriculture-based tourism could attract tourists.
"Regarding tourism village, usually, it can grow rapidly because the village head is focused and diligent. Every tourism village will advance fast if followed by new innovations," she remarked.
She added that the management of tourism villages would develop rapidly if villages establish village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), such as the one developed in the Pujonkidul Tourism Village, Malang district, East Java.
In addition, she continued, the promotion aspect is also essential.
She stressed that the role of all stakeholders is needed to explore all the existing potential.
Meanwhile, the acting Mayor of Batu City, Aries Agung Paewai, invited village heads participating in the training to visit tourism villages in the city and use them as references for the development of their villages as tourism villages.
"There are so many tourism villages in Batu City that have thematic potential. I hope (they) can become references and inspirations for village heads to implement in their respective villages," Paewai said.
