Jakarta (ANTARA) - Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono stated that his administration is collaborating with related parties to gradually solve the problem of traffic congestion.

"We aim to solve the traffic congestion problem in stages since such a problem cannot be solved overnight. That is impossible," Hartono remarked while attending the focus group discussion on Jakarta congestion management in Central Jakarta on Thursday.

In his speech, the acting governor affirmed that his administration continues to work in synergy with the Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) to jointly find solutions to solve the problem of congestion in the capital city.

Hartono also noted that the discussion was held to respond to public complaints regarding the problem in question.

In addition, he remarked that the discussion was held to further deliberate the discourse on dividing the start of work hours into two sessions -- 08:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. local time -- to manage the congestion problems.

"We will later discuss the results of this discussion with the Jakarta Transportation Council. Hence, I would like to invite everyone here, including representatives from Depok and Bekasi, to provide us with feedback and suggestions," he remarked.

Hartono also reiterated that his side has made efforts to address congestion, including by operating the TransJakarta buses' route connecting Soekarno-Hatta Airport and Kalideres Terminal as well as connecting the routes of TransJakarta and Transpakuan from Bogor, West Java, to Cibubur, East Jakarta.

Earlier, Hartono had stated that TransJakarta had begun operating 10 low-entry buses for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport-Kalideres Terminal route, with the daily passenger capacity of up to 2,500 people.

"Ten (buses) every day. We will observe the development. If 10 buses are not enough, we will add more," Hartono noted at a press conference during the trial of the TransJakarta new route in front of Soekarno-Hatta Airport's train station, Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday (July 5).
