Jakarta is ready to host the Basketball World Cup by proffering an unforgettable experience to basketball lovers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo has reiterated that Indonesia is committed to hosting the Basketball World Cup, officially known as the 2023 Federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA) World Cup.

Minister Ariotedjo conveyed the commitment during the world cup preparation meeting with Andreas Zagklis, Secretary General of FIBA, as well as with the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi), held online from Jakarta on Friday.

"We gladly announce that (preparations for) the Basketball World Cup in Jakarta go as planned, so do not worry," the minister stated as cited from his ministry's official website on Saturday.

The minister noted that the government has been undertaking tremendous measures to host the world cup, including by building the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) at the Gelora Bung Karno Complex in Jakarta.

The multifunction stadium is magnificently designed and has a seating capacity of over 16 thousand, with a spacious and comfortable layout.

"The government has allocated a budget to support the holding of this prestigious event," he noted.

According to the minister, the allocated budget constitutes a large investment that reflects Indonesia's commitment to providing world-class facilities for international events and their fans.

"Jakarta is ready to host the Basketball World Cup by proffering an unforgettable experience to basketball lovers. We are committed to ensuring the success of this event," Ariotedjo affirmed.

Secretary General Zagklis, for his part, extended his gratitude to Indonesia for its resolute commitment to hosting the international-level event scheduled to take place in August this year.

"We would like to appreciate the construction of the new (IMS) building as well as the assurance of your commitment to holding the event," he told Minister Ariotedjo.

Zagklis also said he was glad to hear about Indonesia's progress in preparations while believing that the 2023 FIBA World Cup in Indonesia will be a remarkable event.
