Jakarta (ANTARA) - Youth and Sports Minister Dito Ariotedjo expressed his support for the holding of events that combine sport and entertainment aspects, or sportainment, to promote the culture of sport amid the people of Indonesia.

While attending a sportainment event titled "Sport Party Clash of Celebrity" in Jakarta on Saturday (December 23) evening, Ariotedjo extended his appreciation to public figures Raffi Ahmad and Nagita Slavina, the owners of RANS Sportainment that organized the event.

"This time, the event features national female tennis athlete Aldila as well as a celebrity match aimed at promoting tennis in Indonesia," he said in a statement posted on his ministry's website.

He expressed hope that similar events will continue to take place as an effort to make sports a culture and inspire a broad population to participate in sport activities.

"We will always support such events to encourage more people to start loving sport activities," he said.

The minister also mentioned the upcoming 2024 General Elections, suggesting public figures to hold sport events that bring together political figures, so they can have fun and relax as the elections draw closer.

He then expressed belief that the active contribution of public figures and media influencers to the sport scene at home would help the government boost the quality of sport branches in Indonesia.

"I believe that the contribution of influencers will gradually develop the culture of sports at the national level and eventually create a more enabling ecosystem for the sport industry in the hopes of advancing various sport branches," he remarked.

Meanwhile, Ahmad extended his gratitude to Ariotedjo for attending the sportainment event, which also displayed musical performances.

"Hopefully, this event will become an inspiration and help advance Indonesian tennis," Ahmad said.
