Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA) - The Law and Human Rights Ministry facilitates people of Muara Enim, South Sumatra, that are seeking to register their intellectual rights.

"The registration is carried out through a service and consultation hosted as a collaboration between the Muara Enim Government and South Sumatra Office of the Law and Human Rights Ministry," Head of the South Sumatra Office of the Law and Human Rights Ministry, Ilham Djaya, stated in Palembang on Saturday.

Djaya explained that at the event, 12 intellectual rights on kujur batik patterns were registered, and PT Bukit Asam gave assistance on registration of the Bukit Asam Industry Center collective brand.

Moreover, 25 registrations of individual companies were issued by creative economy players of Muara Enim, he remarked.

"I commend the (initiative) because it informed the creative economy players about the benefits of intellectual rights' protection for creative products they make," he opined.

He affirmed that the event encourages people and creative economy players to register their intellectual rights and individual companies.

Djaya said he expects the initiative to be able to boost the number of registered intellectual rights from Muara Enim District.

Head of the Muara Enim Tourism and Creative Economy Office, Isdrin, said his administration commended the initiative from the ministry that had educated people on the importance of intellectual rights protection for creative economy players.

Isdrin noted that the creative economy has developed and advanced to such an extent that it became a new driving force in economic progress, so it must be developed consistently by focusing on its aspects, such as resources, industry, funding, marketing, tech, and infrastructure.

"Moreover, for business players, intellectuals, and the community as part of creative economy, (all) must synergize in digging up and developing the existing potentials," he pointed out.

Such a goal can be achieved by formulating a regulation that can facilitate the growth and development of the creative economy as part of improvement, he concluded.
