Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto met with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday.

Subianto said that he would report on some defense issues to Jokowi during their meeting.

“(Reports) on some issues. Defense issues,” he told reporters at the palace.

Their meetings have intensified in recent weeks.

During their last meeting on June 26, 2023, Subianto said that Jokowi gave him guidance on his ministerial duties.

The president also inquired about his future plans, according to the minister.

The two primarily discussed geopolitical issues and the minister's report on the results of his working visit to Europe.

The meeting took place after the minister's trip to France to attend the 2023 Paris Air Show, where he decided to purchase 12 French-made Mirage fighter jets.

One of the geopolitical issues discussed was the rapidly changing situation in Ukraine and Russia.

Subianto said that he would provide a detailed report on the issue to President Jokowi.

“I think we will follow up on this. We will thoroughly monitor the situation’s development so that we can make plans,” he added.
