MSMEs' contribution to the national economy can be considered significant
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have made a significant contribution to the national economy, so they should be supported through several ways, according to Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan.

"MSMEs' contribution to the national economy can be considered significant. According to data, the number of MSMEs in Indonesia makes up 99 percent of the whole business unit," Hasan noted in a statement received here on Tuesday.

Hasan, concurrently chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) said, he consistently encourages some stakeholders to conduct trainings for MSMEs players in order to improve their efficiency in attracting customers.

"There are some things that must be paid attention to, ranging from packaging to the promotion strategy and coaching, for the MSMEs," he emphasized.

According to Hasan, PAN has actively formed an ecosystem to market microenterprises' products by employing influencers' services in promoting the products.

"We work with influencers, who can blast an event, the goal of which is to advance national MSMEs," he elaborated.

Minister Hasan also called for the need to assist MSMEs, who sought to develop their businesses by offering them capital.

He said that such effort is made by collaborating with banks, so they would offer loans at low interest for the MSMEs' capital.

"Bank is an economic stimulant, particularly for those in the lower segments and for MSMEs," he explained.

Hasan also admitted to participating in person in some events in which MSMEs' products were promoted, such as during the Live Shopping in Festival Indonesia in Gelora Bung Karno here on Sunday, July 9.

"MSMEs must also sell their items through digital means through the marketplace. By doing so, the market for their products is not limited to one city but seen by the whole world. The reach is limitless," he remarked.

He opined that local products have quality that rivals those of foreign counterparts.

Hasan remarked that as the trade minister, he always calls for everyone to support the development of local products by buying and using them.
