We are identifying them, whether through active intervention or through suggestions
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) has expressed its support and appreciation for public innovation through the Grassroot Innovation Facilitation Program.

"This program is one of our efforts to develop a technological innovation ecosystem among the public," Director of Research and Innovation Utilization in Ministries/institutions, Communities, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises at BRIN, Dadan Nugraha, said during a press conference here on Friday.

Nugraha said, the program has been undertaken since BRIN is supportive of innovations from the broader public. This is because innovation is not a right reserved for scientists.

The program, which was initiated this year, has managed to gather at least 80 suggestions concerning innovative products from the people, he informed.

"We are identifying them, whether through active intervention or through suggestions," he said.

Among the 80 suggested products, one of the innovations, which came from Kalimantan, is about energy sources that use gravitational force.

"Next week, we will invite them to delve into what we can help with," he informed.

The agency is making an effort to optimize support for people's creations so that they can benefit many people, he said.

The benefit obtained from these innovations will be tested further so that they can be of economic value for their founders.

"If they do not want to sell them, that is okay. However, we have to ensure that their products are beneficial," Nugraha said.

At the press conference, Head of BRIN's Energy and Manufacture Research Organization, Haznan Abimanyu, outlined the stages of conducting research so that it can be accepted and be beneficial for many people.

One of the stages is the idea stage. People must ensure that the idea that they have is good, and they must identify its benefits.
