Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated a new minister and five deputy ministers at the State Palace on Monday, including Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) II, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.

Roeslani's appointment was based on Presidential Decree No. 32 M of 2023 concerning the dismissal and appointment of deputy ministers of the Onward Indonesian Cabinet for 2019–2024.

He replaced Pahala Mansury, who took charge as the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Born on December 31, 1968, Roeslani served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Indonesia to the United States from 2021 to 2023.

Prior to that, he was chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) from 2015 to 2021.

During his tenure as Kadin chairperson, the Belgian government conferred him "The Order of Leopold of Belgium" in recognition of his contribution to advancing trade and industrial relations between Indonesia and Belgium.

Roeslani, who studied finance at Oklahoma State University (1988–1992), was also involved in a number of strategic government initiatives: he was the chairperson of the Indonesian Job Creation Omnibus Law Task Force (2019–2021) as well as the advisory board of the National Arbitration Board (BANI) (2019–2021).

He served as vice chairperson of the Courtesy Board of the Indonesian Sharia Economic Community (MES).

He was also involved in some large government-led programs, for instance, he was the Chef de Mission of the Indonesian team for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics and vice chairperson of the Committee for COVID-19 Response and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN) in 2020–2021.

Roeslani's presence at the Ministry of SOEs will bring transformation for state-run corporations and help turn them into global players, SOEs Minister Erick Thohir said.
