Jakarta (ANTARA) - The newly appointed Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Arie Setiadi, said here on Monday that he will focus on working to resolve several issues within the ministry.

Setiadi affirmed that he will not think about the current political dynamics, including the 2024 General Elections.

"We will focus on work because the President told us to focus on work. When it comes to politics, it is still far away. There are still four months or five months to go. When it comes to presidential candidate, there is already someone taking care of that," he said.

"Our duty now is to focus on solving what we can work on," he added.

Setiadi informed that there are several challenges that need to be resolved starting from digital infrastructure equity, handling of platforms that distress the public, digital ecosystem development, and peaceful General Election narration development.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will also form an information and communication technology (ICT) utilization acceleration task force so that the country's ICT development, whether in terms of infrastructure and regulations, does not lag behind.

He said he is optimistic that with Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, as well as support from the ministry's secretary general, Mira Tayyiba, and director generals, these challenges can be confronted and resolved.

"Essentially, within the remaining time we have, we want to complete various targets that have already been planned by the President as best we can to become an important part of Mr. Jokowi administration's legacy in the future," he added.

On Monday, Widodo inaugurated Setiadi as the Minister of Communication and Information in place of Johnny G. Plate.
