The services in these 3T regions have started to improve, especially administrative services.
Padang, West Sumatera (ANTARA) - The digital-based public service innovations introduced by the government, particularly in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions, have started to show positive results, according to Mokhammad Najih, head of the Indonesian Ombudsman.

He made his statement during a general lecture on "Policy Innovations by Regional Governments in Indonesia for Realizing Citizens' Constitutional Rights" at Andalas University in Padang, West Sumatra, on Thursday.

"The services in these 3T regions have started to improve, especially administrative services," he said.

However, he did not deny that digital facilities and infrastructure in 3T regions are not yet fully supported by the availability of internet network.

In general, this issue arises because telecommunication service providers have not yet been able to reach 3T regions. Meanwhile, the central government has to provide and ensure equity in development, including internet access.

In addition to the internet network problem, electricity support is still an issue in 3T regions, Najih noted.

Due to these various issues, the institution tasked with monitoring the progress of public services has advised regional heads in 3T regions to take several steps, such as actively visiting the people.

Public services in 3T regions require active involvement in the field. This means that state officials need to routinely visit residents to inquire about their needs.

"At least within a month, there should be an institution that conducts services by visiting locations," he said.

Najih informed that the Ombudsman will immediately report any problems that the institution receives concerning the 2023–2024 new student enrollments (PPDB) to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

"Within the context of national policy, the Indonesian Ombudsman will gather various issues that emerge to be corrected within regulations that the ministry has issued," he elaborated.
