The success of the event as well as others is an indicator of post-pandemic creative economy industry's recovery
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno stated that the success of music festivals and similar events is an indicator of recovery of the creative economy after the COVID-19 pandemic struck Indonesia.

"The success of the event as well as others is an indicator of post-pandemic creative economy industry's recovery," Uno noted in a statement received here on Saturday.

While attending the We The Fest 2023 music festival at the Bung Karno Sports Complex here on Friday, the minister noted that the festival atmosphere showed full recovery akin to the pre-pandemic times.

"I want to see whether the concert atmosphere is the same as the pre-pandemic period. It seems that we have returned to it, and the public is enthusiastically participating in the event," Uno expounded.

Tourism and creative economy have a profound impact on creating new jobs for the people, starting from the culinary sector to other supporting roles in creative events, such as stage workers, ticketing staff, and security officers, he emphasized.

Uno is sanguine that the creative economy and the holding of public events would aid in soon bringing about recovery to its pre-pandemic level.

The minister also highlighted that the holding of professional events and a high level of interest among tourists at these events would drive the industry's recovery.

"I believe festivals and events we organize of world-class quality and through our experience will present a greater economic impact that will open up new business and job opportunities," he affirmed.

Uno expressed optimism that more public events and festivals would be held in Indonesia to encourage residents to spend their leisure time in Indonesia by attending domestic events.

The minister also expects international music festivals in Indonesia, such as the We The Fest 2023, to contribute to an increase in domestic tourists' movements and foreign tourists' visits to the country.
