Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) collaborates with the youth organization Pemuda Panca Marga (PPM) to reduce stunting through communication, information, and education (IEC) and encourage corporate social responsibility (CSR).

"I think the BKKBN program can be synergized with activities that already exist in PPM, such as IEC for stunting reduction in the form of webinars, and food charity from CSR," Head of BKKBN Head Hasto Wardoyo remarked here on Sunday.

He received PPM Chairman Berto Izaak Doko to discuss possible cooperation between BKKBN and PPM in order to achieve the government's target of reducing stunting rates to 14 percent by 2024.

PPM is an organization of the sons and daughters of Indonesian veterans and their descendants.

Wardoyo said that according to the President's mandate, the government must involve the private sector to build the public's awareness of crises.

"PPM members who have influence in certain regions can collaborate with BKKBN for establishing cooperation with the private sector. They will provide assistance to families at risk of stunting," he said.

Three things that need to be considered in forming a collaboration in reducing stunting, he pointed out, are the number of active PPM human resources in the region, huge CSR funding, and the regions with high stunting rates.

"We can start from easy steps that have a big impact; small steps like this will really help stunted children," he said.

Wardoyo hoped that PPM will support the Foster Stunting Children Program (BAAS) program by BKKBN, by encouraging egg consumption in children.

"If we encourage toddlers to consume at least two eggs a day, it is already helpful," he said.

Meanwhile, Doko said his side is ready to work together with BKKBN to reduce stunting by deploying the organization's members to the field.
