Surabaya, East Java (ANTARA) - Special Staff of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs Faozan Amar affirmed that the Karang Taruna youth organization was able to implement nationalist and religious values for the good of Indonesia.

"Nationalist because it combines all youth organizations and community organizations in Surabaya. From a religious perspective, this event was carried out with remembrance and blessings together for the great Surabaya and this nation," Amar noted in his statement here on Monday.

He made this statement while attending the Karang Taruna inauguration in Surabaya City on Sunday evening.

"In Karang Taruna, there are youth organizations (OKP) and community organizations (Ormas). Both become one unit. There are also remembrance and blessings for the city of Surabaya and for the good of the Indonesian nation," he affirmed.

Amar said that if the youths unite, it would become a strength for the city of Surabaya and the Indonesian nation.

Other attendees at the event were Secretary of the PDI-Perjuangan faction and member of Commission C of the Regional People's Legislative Council (DPRD) for Surabaya City, Abdul Ghoni Mukhlas Ni'am.

Representatives from OKP and Ormas, such as the Surabaya Youth Organization, Indonesian National Student Movement (GSNI), Nahdatul Ulama Youth Association (IPNU), Muhammadiyah Youth Association (IPM), Bulak Youth, Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PMII), and Indonesian National Student Movement (GMNI) also attended the event.

Meanwhile, Ghoni emphasized that the inauguration was a new spirit for the youth to always be at the forefront for the progress of the nation.

"If the youth unite and work together, I am sure that the aspirations to advance the nation will be realized," he remarked.

In the meantime, chairman of De Jong Living Bulak Irfan Basier expressed amazement at the inauguration of Karang Taruna, as they were able to hold an event that was attended by hundreds of people in a wise and orderly manner.

"Hopefully, this will be useful for the future of young people in the future," he stated.
