Jakarta (ANTARA) - Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah has said that higher education is one of the essential requirements for improving the quality of Indonesia's human resources (HR) and human capital.

As the highest level of education, higher education must be able to create graduates that are ready to enter industries and support national economic growth, Fauziyah added here on Thursday.

She delivered the statement at the "Symposium on Human Capital," which was organized by the Master of Business Administration Department of Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and the Faculty of Economics and Business of UGM - Master of Management Alumni Association (KAFEGAMA-MM).

"The government continues to improve the quality of higher education through the independent campus program so that graduates can obtain direct learning opportunities in industries," she highlighted.

She said that another step taken by the government to improve the competence and productivity of human resources and human capital has been carrying out massive vocational education and training so that Indonesian human resources can compete in the future.

"This will become the government's main step in improving the competence of Indonesia's human resources in facing changes in the digitalization era," she added.

The minister said that as one of the best educational institutions in Indonesia, UGM is playing a very significant role in human resource quality improvement by continuing to create competent graduates who can contribute to the nation's development.

On that occasion, she also highlighted the important role of human capital and human resource quality development to face the digital era, which is full of challenges.

"I believe this symposium could offer a new perspective for the development of human resources and human capital's quality in Indonesia," she said.
