"The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry (Kemendikbudristek) has also ensured that the evaluation process would not interfere with education services in related PTKLs," he noted in Jakarta, Friday.
Based on the ministry's data, a total of 125 PTKLs are under supervision of a wide range of ministries and agencies, such as the Home Affairs Ministry, Defense Ministry, Law and Human Rights Ministry, Finance Ministry, Health Ministry, Statistics Indonesia, National Police, and State Administration Agency.
The 125 PTKLs are currently under a phase of transition while waiting for the conclusion of the evaluation and adjustment processes conducted by Kemendikbudristek through its Vocational Education Directorate General (DJPV).
During the processes, Makarim said, all PTKLs can still implement the threefold missions of higher education according to the provisions of law.
"PTKLs are also able to continue to accept new students in the 2023-2024 academic year period," he added.
Makarim noted that his ministry has issued Minister's Circulation Letter No. 4 of 2023, which serves as a guideline or reference for PTKLs to keep their higher education services operational during the transition period.
The circulation letter outlines the do’s and don’ts for PTKLs during the transition period that will conclude in December 2024 in hopes of ensuring smooth and optimal running of the evaluation process.
The ministry is determined to guarantee the objectivity and transparency of the evaluation process by continuing to work in coordination with other ministries and agencies during the period in question, he affirmed.
The minister also ensured that the PTKLs' arrangement process is part of the grand agenda of the national efforts to revitalize vocational education and training in the context of creating superior human resources.
He said that all processes are aimed at ensuring the country's ability to provide standardized, high-quality, and meaningful vocational and professional education services.
Director General of the ministry's DJPV Kiki Yulianti stated that the directorate will escort and evaluate PTKLs until December 20, 2024, at the latest.
"The evaluation process will be carried out using the criteria and instruments that have been set by the ministry," she remarked.
