Samarinda, E Kalimantan (ANTARA) - More than 34 thousand hectares (ha) of land in the new Indonesian capital Nusantara (IKN) has been legally certified and handed over to the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN).

"The land covering an area of 34,035.73 ha already has the certificates of rights to utilize (HPL) and has been handed over to the OIKN," Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister and National Land Agency head Hadi Tjahjanto said in a statement received here on Friday.

The 34 thousand hectares of land comprises of parcels measuring 253.39 ha, 25,637.86 ha, and 8,144.48 ha.

"The handover of these certificates is part of the ministry's commitment to providing legal certainty of land rights to investors, and (to support) the capital city area to be a new source of economy," Tjahjanto said.

He urged the OIKN to immediately process cooperation agreements with the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) and Bank Indonesia (BI), which are planning to build offices there.

He said he expected that Right to Build (HGB) certificates will be issued to BI and PSSI immediately.

"Land in the IKN area can be utilized with the HPL certificate, and we give HGB for development," he added.

He said the issuance of legal certificates can support sustainable development in the IKN area.

According to Tjahjanto, after completing the process of land acquisition of forest areas, his side on Thursday (August 3, 2023) handed over three HPL certificates to OIKN, which was represented by OIKN deputy head Dhony Rahajoe.

Rahajoe expressed his appreciation for the completion of the certificate issuance process.

He described it as one of the important milestones of IKN development.

"The HPL certificate issuance for 34 thousand hectares of land provides certainty of utilization rights to the OIKN. With these certificates, sustainable development will soon be realized," he said.
